Olympic Sculpture Barcelona

At last, a sculpture where the artist is revealed!  This statue is in the area that was used as the Olympic village in the 1992 Olympics.  It was created by Robert Llimos and is called ‘Marc’.  The artist is Catalan, which is appropriate, and the title means both a boy’s name and the Catalan word for frame.  Apparently, the statue is dedicated to the memory of the artist’s son, Marco, who was killed in a car crash.

The statue is situated in front of 169 flag poles which were flying the flags of the participant countries during the games.
